The CFA designation is one of the most prestigious in the financial planning world. These individuals are considered specialists in a number of fields, including stocks, bonds, investment management, financial analysis, and more. According to the CFA Institute, the organization that offers this credential, only one in five candidates in the program will become a CFA charter holder.
Those that have received their CFP® designation have completed the exam, gained some experience in financial planning, received a bachelor’s degree, and agreed to the code of ethics. These individuals have pledged to look out for their clients’ best interests in all things related to their financial health.

I support our growth by providing the vision and direction for the future of the organization. By collaborating with industry professionals and my peers, I research the economic and regulatory landscape to maintain our status as one of the premiere financial planning organizations in the country.
Having worked with many business owners and high net worth individuals, I also personally coach and train advisors so they can be successful with HNW clients. Complimenting that, I recognize the value in helping advisors find efficiencies in all aspects of their business and guide our initiatives to offer a broad menu of practice management services to advisors: from marketing and compliance to office relocation assistance and staff training/role definition.
In addition, I work to broaden industry recognition of IFP. I have written numerous articles on various estate and business planning topics for such prestigious publications as InvestmentNews, The Wall Street Journal, The New York Times, Financial Advisor-IQ, Accounting Today, Proactive Advisor and PlanAdviser magazines.
Our success enables me to pursue a favorite part of my job, that of working hands-on with advisors out in the field. I recently worked with an advisor and a CPA to help bring clarity to a very complex case. It was incredibly rewarding that we were able to out-plan, out-maneuver and out-think our competitors. Together, we are a formidable team.
My professional background has spanned the breadth of the financial services industry. Because I entered financial services right out of college, I’ve had almost every job in this industry. I learned the industry from the ground up and saw first hand its strengths and weaknesses. I recruited, worked in compliance and grew a thriving practice. This “rotation” experience has given me an in-depth perspective and an appreciation of the numerous ways we can provide real-world solutions and strategies to help our advisors become more efficient and successful.
Rounding out my life combines family and football. My son, Dan, is the Director of Pro Scouting for the Cleveland Browns. During football season, my wife, Jamie and I can often be found cheering on the team in Cleveland with our daughter-in-law and two adorable grandchildren.
I support our growth by researching, designing, building and supporting a menu of extensive investment solutions for our current and future client base. I oversee the portfolios within Integrated Financial Partners (IFP) and Integrated Wealth Concepts (IWC, our independent RIA) and help educate, mentor and provide joint work assistance to IFP advisors working with larger, more sophisticated cases. Taking a consultative, educational approach to all advisor interactions, I adjust the technical level and chemistry of dialogue to fit the audience and to make the complex both intuitive and straightforward.
Our success means that preeminent money managers want to work with us. Recently, I negotiated with four notable organizations: BlackRock, DFA, JP Morgan, and New Frontier to establish meaningful partnerships with IWC.
My professional background encompasses three decades of experience building portfolios and explaining investment topics in public and private forums. I have a vast amount of experience to draw upon, having worked in many facets of the industry: corporate and public pensions, consulting to endowments and HNW, hedge funds and investment education at the CFA Institute and the University of Colorado, Boulder. This helps me to appreciate both the commonsense, practical aspects of managing money as well as its nuances and pitfalls. These insights are critical given the changing market environment.
Rounding out my life finds me enjoying holidays with my family at our vacation home overlooking the Coronado National Forest in Arizona.
I support our growth by tapping into my expertise serving the high net worth and business owner markets, and incorporating those into our other initiatives. I specialize in working with entrepreneurs and Fortune 500 executives, building comprehensive strategies and financial solutions for their particularly complex situations. As the head of our Family Office, I work with high net worth clients to build and expand their legacies – offering creative ideas for investment, estate and charitable gifting strategies designed to support them for generations to come.
Our success has allowed me to protect and foster family wealth throughout future generations by building a family office solution for our clients. I am proud to be a part of this initiative and to help build it from the ground up.
My professional background includes working as an attorney in private practice and as a corporate staff attorney specializing in tax issues and financial analysis. My various degrees (JD and LLM in Taxation) and designations (CIMA® and CBEC®) have prepared me well for my role today as a member of the Integrated Financial Partners team.
Rounding out my life finds me merging my professional values of success, transparency and doing the right thing for our clients, into my personal life. I look at my 3 boys and see 3 different people but the actions I take and the role model I am will hopefully make an impact on the decisions they make in the future as they grow older.
